Ashford Choral Society has a membership of some 130 singers, and traditionally gives three to four concerts each season, during the period September to April/May. Each year there is an opportunity to perform some of the major works in the choral repertoire together with leading soloists and a professional symphony orchestra. The conductor, Mark Deller, has an international reputation as a choral director, working especially with choirs in France, Belgium, Holland and South America.

Recent concerts given by the Society have included performances of Haydn Harmoniemesse and Mass in time of War, Poulenc Gloria, Bernstein Chichester Psalms, Beethoven Mass in C, Dvorak Te Deum and Orff Carmina Burana. The coming season once again offers a rich variety of musical fare with Haydn's The Creation and a Christmas Carol Concert in the autumn session, and in February a concert that includes Tippett's 5 Sprituals from A Child of our Time and John Rutter's Gloria. Then in May we shall return once again to the Saga Pavilion in Folkestone for a performance of the Verdi Requiem, which will be repeated in Calais two weeks later.

Come and join us, either as a performer or member of the audience; and remember, if you're under 25 it costs you nothing at all to become a member of the Society!
